Umno's main event for its 66th anniversary, hyped-up to be a Night of 1 million Malays, turned out to be a disappointment with many red-shirt-clad supporters openly indifferent to Prime Minister Najib Razak's keynote address, and some even walking out to buy refreshments as he spoke.

As expected, Najib - the Umno president - veered away from announcing the date for the 13th general election despite having made elaborate plans to do so at the gala event.

Violet D’Mello had been petting the “tame” cats in the petting area of a South African game park with other tourists when they began attacking an eight-year-old girl.

Facebook is considering charging users to highlight their important posts.

The social networking site is testing a new feature in New Zealand that would make comments more prominent on a user’s newsfeed.

Users in the country thought they were being scammed when presented with the option to “highlight” their posts for $2.

But Facebook confirmed they were trialling the feature, and charging was one of the options they were considering.

Spokeswoman Mia Garlick said: "We're constantly testing new features across the site.

“This particular test is simply to gauge people's interest in this method of sharing with their friends.”

Users who clicked on the option were offered the options to pay through Paypal or by credit card.

Garlick said they were also trialling a free version of the feature in other areas.

Facebook is currently free to use, and the new option could provide a lucrative revenue stream from their 800million active users.

The 2005 film "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," grossed nearly $200 million worldwide based on the premise of a man who went without sex into midlife. But one real-life woman has managed to stay a virgin up to her 70th birthday.

That could be about to change. "Now's the time. I'm ready to take the plunge for the right bloke," Pam Shaw tells the Sun."My standards are still very high, though. I'm hoping to bag a tall, dark and handsome millionaire."

Shaw says she doesn't believe in sex before marriage and has been too busy with her career as a cabaret dance to settle down. "I feel I am ready to give marriage a go and maybe go to bed with a man," she said. "You are never too old for anything. Just look at Joan Collins."

According to worldwide statistics, the average person retains his or her virginity until 17.3 years of age. A 2010 Yahoo! reader survey found similar numbers, with readers giving an average age of 17.5 before having sex for the first time.

The paper notes that despite her voluntary lifelong abstinence, Shaw goes by the stage name "The Sexational Pam," and once fraternized with male sex symbols like "It's Not Unusual" singer Tom Jones and James Bond actor Roger Moore.

"Tom Jones was very good looking and we used to chat occasionally before I went on stage as the opening act," she said. "In the late 60s we performed together. There was only a curtain separating our dressing areas."

Shaw says she lived with her mother until she passed away at the age of 97 in 1995. Ironically, Shaw says men have often made incorrect assumptions about her sex life, or lack thereof, because of her career in the entertainment industry.

"I've never really been intimate with a man, just a bit of kissing. I had a sexy stage name and dressed sexy but that was all for my career," she said.

The two demonstrations, one by Perkasa outside Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's house, and the other by Ikhlas oustide Ambiga's, of Bersih fame, mark a new low in Malaysian politics. The demonstrators, and their yellow backers in the corridors of BUMNO/BN, have appealed to the lowest common denominator among the worst in their ranks - racism, demagoguery and thuggery!

Given also that our law enforcers (not just the police, but also City Hall officials) stood by and did nothing to disperse these illegal gatherings, while at Bersih 3.0 they opened direct fire at crowds with tear gas and pepper-laced water without justifiable provocation, it's clear what we have is a rogue regime that MUST be booted out at the next general elections, if we wish to preserve the sanctity of our democratic institutions.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 — Tun Mohammad Hanif Omar has maintained he will be fair and impartial when heading Putrajaya’s independent panel on allegations of violence during Bersih 3.0.

The former Inspector-General of Police dismissed allegations that the panel would return biased findings with him on board, saying that he has always acted fairly in previous enquiries and police investigations.

“If they are concerned about unfairness, they can ask themselves whether I was unfair back then,” Hanif told Sinar Harian.

Some 250,000 people gathered for the Bersih 3.0 rally in several parts of the capital on April 28, 2012 clamouring for urgent electoral reforms to be carried out before the next general election. The event saw protests in over 80 cities around the world. They were all focused and united for a mutual cause.

Rally was not hijacked

The aftereffects of the rally in Kuala Lumpur were quite melancholic. More than 500 protesters were arrested and scores injured, including policemen and journalists. Regrettably, UMNO and its media are exploiting the aftermath of this event by orchestrating and side tracking the real issue of concern to all Malaysians – the desire for a clean electoral process.

Harvard University pitcher Conner Hulse threw the Internet a curve ball this week by uploading a video of his teammates lip-synching and dancing to Carly Rae Jepsen’s viral hit “Call Me Maybe.”

Packed into a van during a road trip, the baseball players take turns silently reciting the catchy tune and then join forces in a not-so-elaborate synchronized dance. Five girls were "shared" by Kabeer Hassan, Abdul Aziz, Abdul Rauf, Mohammed Sajid, Adil Khan, Abdul Qayyum, Mohammed Amin, Hamid Safi and a 59-year-old man who cannot be named for legal reasons in and around Rochdale, Greater Manchester.

A jury at Liverpool crown court heard that the defendants plied the vulnerable girls, some as young as 13, with fast food, drink and drugs so they could "pass them around" and use them for sex. One 13-year-old victim became pregnant and had the unborn child aborted.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 — Four Singapore-based expatriates have alleged that they were attacked by bodyguards of a Malaysian royal family while on holiday at a Johor island.

Singapore’s The Straits Times reported today that the men were “brutally assaulted” within hours of arriving at Alang’s Rawa resort on Pulau Rawa, the second attack in seven years on the island with alleged links to Malaysian royalty.

I have been visiting many FELDA communities in Bentong and any windfall in these tough economic times benefiting good rural folks, should be celebrated and welcomed.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 — A student arrested for alleged acts of violence during the Bersih 3.0 rally was allegedly asked by police while under detention whether he masturbated or was involved in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LBGT) activities.
